Sri Lankans will receive the second dose of the vaccine against Covid 19 from April 10, the Health authorities have announced. Minister Channa Jayasumana said talks to purchase coronavirus vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech have been successful and a final agreement is expected to be reached soon.
Though India has said deliveries of AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine doses will be delayed due to local demand, it would not have an impact on Sri Lanka vaccination drive, Jayasumana added. Sri Lanka will receive 20,000 doses of Russia’s Sputnik V anti-COVID-19 vaccine next month, he confirmed. Sri Lanka will also receive 600,000 doses of China’s Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine on March 31, State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana said.
